Afternoon Tea at The Arch, London

Afternoon tea is one of those old English traditions that I totally love. Sadly though, with all of us rushing around and trying to fit in too much, I think traditions like this just kind of disappear. Thankfully though, I recently had a urge to eat scorns and finger sandwiches at 3pm one day so I called up Amy and we both headed to The Arch London one cloudy Thursday afternoon.

I love the quirky decor and it felt stylish but very friendly as soon as we walked in. I wasn’t sure what type of afternoon tea we would get but when it arrived at our table, I was pleasantly surprised to see a really traditional spread. Wedgwood crockery with a vintage print was beautifully littered with an array of triangle sandwiches including egg mayonnaise and ham and piccalilli. The dessert level was a splash of colour with a mini eton mess, chocolate orange cheesecake and a traditional battenberg.
The classic scorns, cream and strawberry jam was also present which I tucked into straight away without any prompt. As well as a wide selection of finger foods including cheese sticks(YUM), there was also a large variety of teas that you can try but I decided to stick with a simple English breakfast.

After this visit, it has definitely encouraged me to enjoy Afternoon Tea more and not just for those ‘special occasions’. I loved the whole menu and experience and I think I will be visiting The Arch London again very soon…
