Boohoo recently sent me a top(above) to have a go at customizing. To celebrate the fab festival season that is coming into action, the brand also sent me some stick-on jewels, glitter paint, glue and studs to create a look that I could wear during this summer season. As I am going to Glastonbury this year I thought this little project was great as I have the perfect time coming up to wear it.So to start me off, I separated the coloured stick-on jewels and looked at the ones I wanted to use. I didn’t really like the glitter paint so I thought I would introduce some feathers I previously had and would use the studs to give the top a hard edge.
Now that I had all my pieces ready, I started to sew on my feathers. I was lucky that they were already stuck on a fabric strip so attaching them to the top was a lot simpler then first imagined.
When the sewing was finally complete, I added the studding to really finish off the top. I begun by spacing the studs close together but the further down the top I went, the more spread out I wanted them to be. To complete my creation, I stuck a few of the coloured jewels on the top. I placed two on the front and one on the back to cover-up the end of the feather strips and eureka! , It’s finished. As this top looks pretty boho and cool, I thought I would style it with some Voodoo Girl shorts and easy, chilled out boots from Superdry. This little experiment was a great way to get me out of my comfort zone and back into creating clothes and style, which I used to do many times when I was a wee nipper.
So why not try it yourself and see what you can come up with?
